Did you attend a LARP event last weekend? Let us know how it was in the comments!

This Week In LARP

We're almost through this mucky, cold weather. Get your final doses before the heat hits!

NERO

WAR will be hosting a 2-day event this weekend starting on Friday, March 11th and ending Sunday, March 13th. The game will be held at Camp Oyo at the IG location of Ashton. It is $50 to PC ($30 with a good NPC ratio) and is free to NPC. This event will be using 8th Edition rules.

If you've got a game running this week and we didn't mention you, either drop a comment here or shoot an email to larp.plot.tips@gmail.com, and we'll add you as soon as possible!

  1. I personally had the chance to hit up the Joint Exiles/Wastelands event. It was pretty wild. We had a bunch of people who have never played Wastelands or Exiles (and a few brand new to LARPing). We were well fed, the game hand-off went pretty quickly, I made a bunch of new friends, and I really want to do a bit more airsofting now.

The only downside was the weather. Rain, Rain, Rain, Sleet, Rain, Freezing Rain, Snow. GG.

  2. Yeah the weather sucked mightily. I had a good time at the first part of the game. I'm glad to hear the second part went well too. My only regret was since it was such a short time frame (and crappy weather) I felt like some of the repping and long complex mods couldn't fit in the frame. I think Sean, Ryan and Jason did a fantastic job and I'd love to visit the IG location again for a longer game.

  3. I attended the combo event as well, and since I'm biased I won't post about what I thought of the games :) But for the idea of a combo event in general, I think it was an okay introduction. We were pretty organized, so we went into game on time and each group got equal time - that organization helped a lot! For anyone thinking about doing this, try to work out as much as possible beforehand so no one loses play time! I think for anyone looking to get an in-depth look at either game, this was not the place. But just to get a feel for how things work at a new game, it was a nice taste. For example, having never fired an airsoft gun, I now know what it's like. And I know if I want to try it again not to wear tinted goggles :) It wasn't long enough, though, to really know if what I saw was representative of the whole game. I think that for new players, something like this might be a good thing to do maybe once a year. But once people have been introduced, it's not as useful. Just a few thoughts! I think people did have fun, though, all things considered :)
