YouTube Friday: Dragon on Stilts

It's hard to find decent LARP videos these days. I sometimes feel like I've gone through all the good ones. There's a number of parodies that make fun of LARP, but in all honestly, the quality isn't really that good.

However, I did find this video of a guy fighting on jumping stilts. I always thought it would be neat to incorporate a pair of jumping stilts as a tool to use in certain situations, but the fact of the matter is that none of the games I play in use a flat field, and using those at the camps would be asking to get hurt.

Still, I would love to fight something like this.

Enjoy!

  1. You know, you could do something like that at Lewis Arboretum, down in the lower field (provided it was dry, which I know is a long shot).

  2. I will also go ahead and say that if someone want's to finance Bill's dream, I'm pretty sure I could make that. Just sayin'.

  3. I, too, have been thinking about incorporating jumping stilts into a creature... how coincidental :)

  4. I was at the event ( Profound Decisions's Odyssey LARP http://www.profounddecisions.co.uk/odyssey ). The costume was even more impressive close up. He towered over his opponents and was surprisingly mobile.

Note, this was a practice fight in the event car park to get used to the costume. The Odyssey gaming area has NO cars to spoil the views.

It's an excellent system that attracts experienced roleplayers. The standard of costume and props is second to none. I can heartily recommend it :-)
