I had to do some digging into the archives for this week's video. Now, I know this is a bit old (a year plus), but I figured this is a very good example of positive press for LARPs in general.
While this video is primarily about Dagorhir and Belegarth, there is a healthy use of the word "LARP," and none of the people interviewed are sad, obsessive, or weird enough to make fun of LARPers. In addition, no one in the video tries to hide what they're doing or pretend that they're just doing it for the lulz. Thank you Medill Reports!

Hulu hosted a documentary about larping. Movie is hour and a half.

From what I remember, it wasn't particularly pro-LARPing. It was another one of those documentaries where the player was essentially too into the game.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I saw that movie about 4-5 years ago, but I should probably give it another shot. My memory might be a little foggy.
Bill you are correct. It is not really pro larping but from the comments, I think it did spark some interest in new players wanting to try it.
ReplyDeleteI do agree the people they follow are too into the game. I see a lot players far to consumed by the games they play. It's sad, but I understand them wanting to escape real life. However with all the bad there is some positive; I do think the games teach leadership, team working, and being social...skills a lot of these people may not otherwise acquire.
